Our people, their stories

I started at NZME in 2016, which was my first job in New Zealand. I worked in the mailroom, picking up parcels and delivering them to all of the floors in the building. It was good fun! Then I joined the technology service desk team, and now I am the Software Quality Assurance Engineer here. My job is to test the quality of the digital applications we build, such as the NZ Herald website, and making sure they are operating well. Our products are great, but it's the people that make things better. People and the environment are the best thing about my job. People at NZME are engaging and they're always there to celebrate your success.

Some of the best things I love about my job are that it is fast paced, its constantly changing, there's always something on the go. No two days are the same! So as I come to work in the morning I have no idea what the day holds for me. And as the day evolves there's always something coming up through breaking news. NZME has helped me grow my career by giving me a huge range of skill sets. It has helped me to grow as a journalist but also as a person as well, and learn so many things that I didn't expect to learn. The most rewarding thing about my job is seeing a big video project come together, and see the audience response.

I started my NZME journey about 9 years ago in Rotorua as the Promotions Manager there. I was then lucky enough to be offered a secondment here in Auckland in the Trade Marketing team. And now i'm the Commercial Partnerships Manager. The most important thing i've learnt working here at NZME is to create those amazing relationships with people and take every opportunity as its offered.

I started at NZME as a Promotions Assistant and from there moved to the digital side of things so was helping running the website and also social media. After that I started doing the night show and that's where i've been ever since. NZME is a really fun place to work, there's always something you can get involved with and the thing I love the most is the people. Some of my best friends work at the company.
