Media Planning Strategist
This is a great opportunity for a junior strategist to deepen their expertise in audio advertising.
About the role
We’re looking for a Media Planning Strategist to join NZME’s Commercial Planning team, supporting the delivery of radio and digital audio advertising campaigns across some of Aotearoa’s most recognisable brands, including iHeartRadio and NZ Herald.
This is a planning and optimisation‑focused role, working from client briefs and supporting commercial teams to plan, deliver and refine audio campaigns that perform. It is suited to someone with a couple of years of experience in media or media planning who is keen to deepen their capability in audio advertising.
What you’ll be doing:
Plan and coordinate radio and digital audio advertising campaigns in response to client briefs
Identify target audiences and recommend appropriate audio platforms, formats and placements
Work closely with radio traffic and commercial teams to ensure campaigns are delivered as planned
Monitor campaign performance and provide recommendations to optimise current and future activity
Prepare clear and timely reporting for internal stakeholders
Support sales teams with audience‑led media planning and audio advertising solutions
Keep up to date with market trends and competitor activity
What we’re looking for:
Minimum 2–3 years’ experience in media, ideally in planning with exposure to radio or audio campaigns
Understanding and experience with advertising inventory, media placement and campaign optimisation
Confidence using data and insights to inform planning decisions. Experience using GfK software would be highly beneficial
Strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple campaigns at once
Clear communication skills and a collaborative working style

Your new workplace will be in central Auckland with radio studios, newsroom hubs, breakout areas, and the popular iHeart lounge which hosts internal and external events.
This is a full time, permanent role working 40 hours per week located in the Auckland CBD. The annual salary is $73,000.
