Auckland | Full-time
The Opportunity
At NZME, we inform, entertain, and connect millions of New Zealanders every day across radio, digital, podcasting publishing and video. Behind every great broadcast is great technology — and that’s where you come in.
We’re looking for an Audio & Video Engineer to join our Auckland-based engineering team, supporting the systems that power some of New Zealand’s most recognisable media brands. If you thrive in live environments, enjoy solving complex technical challenges, and want to work with modern broadcast platforms at scale, this is a role with real impact.
What you’ll be doing
As an Audio & Video Engineer at NZME, you’ll play a hands-on role in keeping our broadcast and production environments running at peak performance.
You’ll be responsible for:
Installing, configuring, maintaining, and troubleshooting broadcast audio and video systems
Supporting live radio, podcasting, and video productions, including studio, remote, and outside broadcasts
Maintaining high standards of audio and video quality across all platforms
Providing operational and technical support for live broadcasts, including fault diagnosis under pressure
Assisting with technology upgrades, enhancements, and new initiatives
Maintaining clear technical documentation and system diagrams
Supporting iHeartRadio operations, including station setups and meeting operational SLAs
Working alongside internal teams and external vendors to deliver seamless technical outcomes
Participating in an on-call support roster following training
The technology you’ll work with
You’ll gain exposure to a range of industry-standard broadcast and digital platforms, including:
RCS NexGen and Zetta
NewsBoss News Presentation System
Axia AoIP and associated broadcast applications
Studio audio consoles, microphones, cameras, live-streaming, and production infrastructure
About you
You’re technically confident, calm under pressure, and enjoy working in a collaborative environment where no two days are the same.
You’ll bring:
A degree in Audio Engineering, Broadcast Technology, or equivalent practical experience
Proven experience in broadcast, studio, or live production environments
Strong knowledge of audio and video systems, signal flow, and broadcast best practices
Excellent troubleshooting skills and the ability to resolve issues quickly
Confidence working both independently and as part of a close-knit technical team
Clear communication skills and a proactive, solutions-focused mindset
A willingness to keep learning and adapt as technologies evolve
A background in broadcast media, studio operations, or live production in a 24/7 operational environment will be highly regarded.
Why join NZME?
Work with leading broadcast brands and platforms in New Zealand
Be part of a skilled, supportive engineering team
Access ongoing professional development and career growth opportunities
Operate in a fast-paced, purpose-driven organisation where technology truly matters
Enjoy competitive remuneration and the opportunity to work on meaningful, high-profile content
