The Opportunity

Reporting to the CFO, this is a highly visible and influential role at the heart of NZME’s strategic and financial decision-making. You’ll shape NZME’s long-term performance outlook, strategic narrative and capital markets positioning, acting as a trusted advisor to the Executive team.

You’ll bring together internal performance insights, external market intelligence and investor perspectives to support high‑quality decisions, long‑term value creation and clear, compelling market messaging. This role works closely with the CEO, CFO and senior leaders across the business, with strong exposure to investors, analysts and external advisers.

Key Accountabilities

Strategy & Decision Support

• Partner with the CFO and Executive team to provide strategic analysis, modelling and Board‑ready decision support.

• Own NZME’s long‑term performance outlook, scenario design and financial modelling as the single source of truth.

• Lead the Group strategy process, including option evaluation, prioritisation and capital allocation insights.

• Prepare and coordinate investor relations materials and results narratives, partnering with the CEO/CFO on investor and analyst engagement.

• Provide enterprise‑level corporate finance insight across major investments, strategic initiatives and value‑creation opportunities.

• Influence and lead across the Group, coaching teams, aligning stakeholders and delivering complex, cross‑functional projects with strong governance.

About You

You’re a credible senior finance leader with a strong commercial and strategic mindset, comfortable operating at Executive, Board and capital markets level.

• Degree‑qualified with 10+ years’ experience across finance, strategy and commercial roles.

• Advanced financial modelling, valuation and scenario analysis capability, with strong business case experience.

• Deep understanding of investor expectations, valuation drivers and equity market dynamics, with listed‑company IR exposure (or equivalent).

• Excellent communicator, able to distil complex analysis into clear, compelling options and recommendations for senior audiences.

• A collaborative, influential leader who challenges constructively, builds capability and drives high‑quality outcomes.

• Media sector experience and hands‑on capital raising or M&A experience are highly advantageous.
