The Hits Canterbury Day Show Announcer
Be the voice of Canterbury and host The Hits weekday 10–3, play great music, connect with locals and grow a loyal audience across the region.
THE OPPORTUNITY
Be the voice of Canterbury, connecting listeners with what matters most across the region, playing the best music and delivering engaging content.
As the host of The Hits Canterbury 10am–3pm weekday show, you’ll be the friendly, familiar voice listeners spend their day with. You’ll deliver entertaining, relatable and compelling content that reflects The Hits brand, connects with our audience and continues to grow loyalty and reach across Canterbury.
This is a full-time role, working 40 hours per week, with studio hours focused on 10am–3pm, Monday to Friday, supported by preparation, planning and content development time.
HOW YOU’LL DO IT
You’ll present an engaging and polished on-air show, combining live broadcasting and voice-tracking, while maintaining a strong, authentic connection with listeners. You’ll confidently manage calls, competitions and giveaways, record daily weather updates, and ensure brand guidelines are consistently reflected on air.
Beyond the studio, you’ll be a visible ambassador for The Hits Canterbury across social media, creating and sharing content that strengthens the station’s profile and attracts new audiences. You’ll work closely with the General Manager and Content Director through regular coaching and planning sessions, continually refining your craft.
You’ll also support the commercial team by contributing creative ideas that enhance client campaigns, and occasionally assist with light production work such as recording ads with clients for local advertisers or other NZME brands.
ABOUT YOU
You’re a confident, warm and engaging broadcaster who understands how to connect with a broad audience. You’re organised, prepared and comfortable working with broadcast production systems, with a willingness to learn and adapt to new platforms and technologies.
You bring creativity, curiosity and professionalism to everything you do, actively looking for ways to grow your personal profile and the station’s success. You’re a strong communicator, a team player, and someone who thrives on feedback, coaching and continuous improvement.
Radio or media experience is preferred, along with a genuine passion to be involved with the local community and keen to build a personal profile.
