Day Producer - Ryan Bridge TODAY
Shape NZ’s most dynamic morning news show with agenda‑setting interviews, breaking‑news angles and must‑watch live video.
THE OPPORTUNITY
This is a chance to play a key role in shaping Ryan Bridge TODAY, the NZ Herald’s new live streaming morning news programme. As Day Producer, you’ll sit at the heart of a fast-moving newsroom, helping to deliver smart, compelling and agenda-setting interviews to audiences across Aotearoa.
Working under the guidance of the Head of Streaming, you’ll collaborate closely with the host, set-up producer and wider newsroom to craft a sharp line-up of live and pre-recorded content. From breaking news to in-depth interviews to covering the events New Zealanders love to watch, you’ll help ensure the programme is authoritative, engaging and always ahead of the agenda.
HOW YOU’LL DO IT
You’ll take ownership of the news agenda of the programme, pitching interview ideas, setting up guests and researching topics, writing intros and producing high quality segments with necessary b-roll, graphics and stats that add value to the interview.
You’ll work seamlessly across teams to ensure the best possible content goes to air, ensuring accuracy and high standards in everything we do. You’ll think creatively about storytelling for streaming platforms, using data, audience insight and strong news judgement to deliver light and shade across the rundown.
Throughout it all, you’ll champion NZME’s editorial standards, ethics and media law obligations, communicating clearly and calmly during breaking news situations and helping lift the craft of those around you.
ABOUT YOU
You’re a passionate, experienced newsroom operator with strong producing skills and a deep love of news. You'll love chasing talent, unearthing fresh angles and being first! You’re confident working in digital and broadcast environments and thrive under pressure.
You bring excellent news judgement, a wide range of contacts, and no shortage of strong ideas. You’re collaborative, organised and decisive, able to manage multiple priorities while keeping a clear view of the bigger picture. You communicate confidently with colleagues and external stakeholders, adapt quickly to change, and take pride in producing clean, publish‑ready content.
You’re also keen to grow — open to learning new storytelling techniques, embracing innovation, and helping build engaged audiences across multiple platforms.
WHAT’S ON OFFER
You’ll be part of a highly motivated, forward‑thinking newsroom working on one of NZME’s most exciting new products. This role offers the chance to make a real impact, work with some of the best in the business, and develop your career at the cutting edge of live and digital journalism.
We offer a supportive, inclusive culture, opportunities for learning and development, and the chance to help shape the future of streaming news in New Zealand.
All applicants will be asked about their working rights in New Zealand (e.g. citizen, resident, visa holder, or no visa).
