Weekend Breakfast Newsreader (Maternity Cover) - Newstalk ZB

Are you an exceptional, multi-skilled broadcast journalist, able to write, sub and read radio bulletins? Are you a leader who can mentor our team of journalists on the weekends?

Newstalk ZB is looking for an anchor to produce and read our breakfast bulletins on Saturdays and Sundays.

This role suits someone who could be looking to keep their hand in the industry while keeping other commitments during the week, or step back into the news game.

While the role is 16 hours per week maternity leave cover, casual hours on top of this are an option.

This wide-ranging role includes:

  • Reading hourly bulletins for Newstalk ZB and NZME’s music brands, as well as our Affiliate stations.

  • Writing compelling, succinct radio copy, pulling together stories from our international news wires.

  • Sub-editing stories for radio provided by our reporters, ensuring they are accurate and comply with media law.

  • Leading the Newstalk ZB weekend news team, mentoring reporters and helping them break stories.
