Senior Reporter - BusinessDesk
Set the agenda at BusinessDesk: expose failures, break big stories, and hold regulators and corporates to account across New Zealand.
THE OPPORTUNITY
BusinessDesk is relentless about accountability. We don’t just cover corporates — we scrutinise the agencies and people meant to regulate them. As our Senior Regulatory Reporter, you’ll break and develop high‑impact stories across Aotearoa’s corporate landscape, from public markets to private deals. You’ll closely follow key regulators — including the Financial Markets Authority, Serious Fraud Office, WorkSafe and the Commerce Commission — and reveal how they respond to corporate fraud, governance failures, compliance lapses and policy shifts.
HOW YOU’LL DO IT
Build and cultivate a network of sources across regulators, policymakers, industry leaders, legal experts and advocates.
Use the Official Information Act confidently and creatively to generate exclusives and advance ongoing investigations.
Mix fast, accurate breaking news with in‑depth features, explanatory pieces and data‑rich analysis that set the agenda.
Track law‑making, enforcement actions, fines, settlements and disclosure issues — spotlighting firms and individuals falling short.
Collaborate with editors and reporters to shape coverage, uphold standards and deliver journalism that makes a difference.
