ZM is looking for an experienced broadcaster to join us as Assistant Content Director.

You'll support the Content Director in leading ZM's day-to-day operations while contributing to strategic content decisions that keep us at the forefront of New Zealand's media landscape.
This is a senior role requiring someone who can seamlessly step into the Content Director's shoes when needed, while bringing fresh ideas and operational excellence to everything we do.
YOU'LL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR:
Supporting the Content Director by managing daily radio operations
Leading regular planning and aircheck sessions with on-air hosts, providing guidance and performance development
Leading brand imaging workflows, maintaining all promotional rotations and brand consistency
Acting as Content Director during absences, maintaining operational authority and oversight of the station
Providing 24-hour on-call technical and presentation support
Mastering and overseeing all necessary equipment and production systems, including Powergold, NexGen and Zetta, and adapting to new media platforms
Taking an audience first approach, using analytics, research and data to inform strategic programming and content decisions
Developing and maintaining senior-level relationships across NZME divisions, especially with other radio brands, iHeart, Technology, Commercial Integration and Sales
Working with the Commercial Integration team to ensure all sponsorships and client promotions are executed perfectly
Contributing to strategic planning, content strategy, and brand positioning initiatives
ABOUT YOU:
You're a radio native with strong leadership capabilities and a deep understanding of what makes great radio. You thrive in fast-paced environments, love mentoring talent, and have the strategic thinking to support senior management decision-making.
YOU’LL BRING:
• 5+ years' experience in commercial radio broadcasting, with minimum 3 years in senior content/programming roles demonstrating a proven leadership track record
• Expert-level PowerGold, NexGen and Zetta experience essential with proven experience managing complex operational workflows
• Exceptional communication skills with senior-level presentation skills for interfacing with executives, talent, and external stakeholders
• Ability to make critical decisions under pressure and navigate challenging situations with thoughtful decision-making
• Strong teamwork capabilities to welcome input, respect others' views and contribute positively
• Commitment to personal growth and development with adaptability in dealing with change and fostering continuous improvement
• Passion for youth culture and understanding of ZM's target audience
• A tertiary qualification in Communications, Media Studies or related field would be desirable
