Senior Producer - Herald NOW
Play a key role in Herald NOW’s live video morning news show, shaping compelling coverage with agenda-setting interviews and video stories for digital audiences daily.
THE OPPORTUNITY
Herald NOW is the NZ Herald’s new video streaming show hosted by Ryan Bridge - and we’re seeking a Senior Producer to help us set the agenda in election year. In this pivotal role you’ll curate a compelling mix of live and pre‑recorded segments, move fast on breaking stories, and bring unmissable interviews and visual storytelling to our digital audiences. Working closely with the Head of Streaming and across multiple teams, you’ll turn newsroom momentum into must‑watch moments—every day.
HOW YOU'LL DO IT
Build a balanced rundown that blends hard and political news with business, foreign, lifestyle and entertainment content.
Pivot seamlessly to breaking news, communicating clearly to keep coverage fast, accurate and audience‑first.
Set up interviews, research, write video scripts and produce stories that add context, perspective and depth.
Direct and collaborate with presenters, journalists, multimedia and visual journalists, studio operators and video producers to elevate the output.
Uphold NZME’s editorial standards and code of ethics; ensure presenter scripts are subbed and interviews meet legal guidelines.
Think laterally about storytelling for streaming; experiment with innovative formats across digital and social platforms.
Use analytics and research to understand what audiences want—and share those insights to lift team performance.
Develop and maintain strong contacts, proposing angles and future content that keeps Herald NOW ahead of the competition.
