THE OPPORTUNITY
This is your chance to take the reins of NZME in Canterbury. Across our audio, digital, publishing and One Roof platforms we reach 9 out of 10 kiwis each week and are market leaders in Christchurch as part of New Zealand's largest integrated media company. You will provide over-arching leadership across all aspects of our operation, from advertising to on-air to news and will play a crucial role in driving our revenue and audience success across the Canterbury market.
Reporting to the Chief Commercial Office - Direct, you’ll set the strategic direction, lead a high-performing team, and deliver revenue, EBIT, and growth targets. Your leadership will position NZME as the media partner of choice for businesses across Canterbury and a desirable place to work for media professionals.
HOW YOU’LL DO IT
- Strategic Leadership: Collaborate with senior commercial leaders to design and implement sales strategies that drive performance and innovation.
- Revenue Growth: Deliver integrated audience solutions, optimise yield, and identify new revenue streams to exceed financial targets.
- Team Excellence: Build, mentor, and inspire a customer-focused sales team, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement. Provide support for and collaboration with our content and news teams, growing audience.
- Market Intelligence: Stay ahead of industry trends, anticipate opportunities, and ensure NZME remains at the forefront of the advertising landscape.
- Financial Management: Oversee budgets, forecasts, and cost strategies to maximise profitability and operational efficiency.
ABOUT YOU
You’re a seasoned sales and people leader with:
- 10+ years in sales management
- Proven success in solution-based selling and executive-level relationship management.
- Full budgetary management experience and a track record of driving growth.
- Exceptional communication, influencing, and negotiation skills.
- Strategic agility, resilience, and the ability to lead through change.
You thrive in dynamic environments, inspire teams, and deliver results with integrity and innovation.
