Are you ready to lead the charge in dynamic, multi-platform news delivery? NZME is on the hunt for a Multimedia Content Editor who thrives in a fast-paced newsroom and knows how to turn breaking and premium news into engaging video and visual content. You’ll be at the heart of our coverage, collaborating with journalists, editors, and producers to deliver stories that resonate with audiences wherever they are.
HOW YOU’LL DO IT
- Champion NZME’s newsroom mission and ethics while collaborating across publishing and production teams.
- Attend planning meetings to identify multimedia opportunities and direct content creation.
- Guide and coach journalists and producers to craft compelling visually-led stories.
- React swiftly to breaking news, ensuring fast, accurate, and visually engaging coverage.
- Help to elevate content produced by Herald NOW.
- Manage collaboration with other newsrooms such as pool coverage.
- Manage visuals budgets, copyright compliance, and contributor content.
- Use analytics and audience insights to shape content strategy and delivery.

You’re a seasoned newsroom professional with a flair for multimedia storytelling. You bring:
- A relevant qualification or significant experience in digital/broadcast journalism.
- Strong leadership and mentoring skills to inspire high-performing teams.
- Excellent communication and collaboration abilities.
- A strategic mindset with a passion for innovation and audience engagement.
- A commitment to journalistic integrity, media law, and NZME’s editorial standards.
- Flexibility, resilience, and a proactive approach to change and development.
