NZME is on the lookout for a Fullstack Software Engineer who’s passionate about building great digital experiences and is ready to grow their skills in a supportive, high-performing team. Whether you’re just starting out or have a couple of years under your belt, this is a fantastic opportunity to work on meaningful projects, learn from experienced engineers, and contribute to products used by Kiwis every day.
ABOUT YOU
We don’t expect you to know everything, but here’s what will help you hit the ground running:
- 1 to 2 years of experience in backend development with Python
- 1 to 2 years of experience with JavaScript, TypeScript, including hands-on experience with React (or similar frontend frameworks)
- Familiarity with RESTful APIs, Git, and responsive design
- Understanding of databases like MySQL or MongoDB
- Exposure to design tools like Figma and styling frameworks such as Tailwind CSS is a plus
- An understanding of Agile and Scrum
- A proactive mindset and eagerness to learn
- Bonus points for experience with Docker, AWS or GCP, or performance and security best practices
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Build and maintain features across our web and mobile platforms using React and Python
- Develop and maintain APIs to support our mobile app team
- Contribute to platform upgrades, performance tuning, and system resilience
- Write clean, testable code and participate in code reviews
- Collaborate with product owners and designers to bring ideas to life
- Learn from and contribute to a team that values quality, security, and scalability
