THE OPPORTUNITY
NZME is on the hunt for a talented Data Engineer to join our Commercial Platforms team. This is your chance to architect and maintain the data platforms that power our business decisions, insights, and innovation. From cloud to on-premise, you’ll be at the heart of our data transformation journey—enabling Analysts, Data Scientists, and stakeholders to unlock the full potential of our data.
HOW YOU’LL DO IT
You’ll engineer hybrid data platforms and ETL pipelines across Google BigQuery and MS SQL Server, ensuring performance, scalability, and security. Your toolkit will include:
- Designing and deploying robust data pipelines and APIs (RESTful & SOAP).
- Supporting and optimising on-premise SQL Server databases.
- Enabling analytics through scalable data models and clean datasets for tools like Power BI.
- Collaborating across teams to translate business needs into technical solutions.
- Upholding data governance, privacy, and compliance standards.
You’ll also champion CI/CD practices, API security protocols, and data quality frameworks—making sure our data is accurate, timely, and trusted.
ABOUT YOU
You’re a detail-driven problem solver with a passion for data architecture. You bring:
- Proven experience with cloud platforms (GCP, Azure, or AWS) and cloud-native tools.
- Advanced skills in SQL, Python, and scripting (PowerShell, Bash).
- Expertise in Microsoft SQL Server, SSIS, SSAS, and data orchestration tools like Airflow or Apache NiFi.
- A collaborative mindset and strong communication skills—able to bridge technical and non-technical worlds.
- A commitment to continuous learning and personal development.
