THE OPPORTUNITY
We're looking for a Senior Software Engineer – Backend & AI to play a pivotal role in designing, building and evolving the platforms that power our advertising, data and AI-driven products.

This is more than a traditional backend engineering role. You'll help shape the future of intelligent applications by combining robust software engineering principles with emerging AI technologies. Working across a diverse portfolio of products, you'll build scalable services, create intelligent automation solutions and ensure AI-powered systems remain secure, reliable and production-ready.

As a senior technical contributor, you'll influence architecture decisions, champion best practice engineering standards, and partner closely with stakeholders to turn complex business requirements into high-quality solutions. You'll design, build and support backend services, APIs and integrations that underpin key business applications and AI-powered solutions. Leveraging technologies such as TypeScript, Node.js and cloud-native platforms, you'll create scalable, secure and resilient systems that deliver real business value.

A significant focus of the role is ensuring the reliability of AI and large language model (LLM) applications. You'll develop and improve AI workflows, implement testing and evaluation frameworks, establish automated quality controls, and help ensure AI outputs remain trustworthy and safe in production environments.

You'll take ownership of CI/CD pipelines and release processes, introducing automated testing, deployment safeguards and best-practice engineering controls. From secure coding and structured logging through to observability and incident resolution, you'll help create systems that are built to perform and built to last.

Collaboration will be central to your success. You'll work closely with engineers, product stakeholders and business teams to understand challenges, recommend technical solutions and deliver outcomes that support both immediate needs and long-term strategic goals.

You're an experienced software engineer with a passion for building high-quality backend systems and an enthusiasm for emerging AI technologies. You've spent time in senior engineering or technical leadership roles and are comfortable taking ownership of architecture, quality and delivery outcomes.

You'll bring:

• 5+ years' experience developing and supporting production software systems

• Strong expertise in TypeScript and Node.js backend development

• Experience working with cloud platforms, ideally Google Cloud Platform (GCP)

• Hands-on knowledge of CI/CD pipelines, automated testing and release engineering

• Experience building or supporting AI and LLM-powered applications

• Strong understanding of secure software development practices

• Experience integrating third-party APIs and event-driven architectures

• Confidence working in Linux environments and modern Git workflows

• Excellent communication skills and the ability to quickly understand complex business domains

Bonus points if you've worked with advertising technology, CRM platforms, data warehousing solutions, SQL, Python or automation tooling, or have experience addressing security challenges specific to AI applications.
