THE OPPORTUNITY
As a Media Strategist – Digital, you’ll sit at the heart of Aotearoa New Zealand’s most influential media ecosystem, shaping how brands connect with engaged audiences across NZME’s leading digital platforms — including nzherald.co.nz and iHeartRadio.
Reporting to the Commercial Digital Lead and working within the wider Planning team, you’ll play a pivotal role in transforming client and commercial objectives into smart, audience‑led digital media strategies. With a strong focus on planning, optimisation and performance, you’ll ensure campaigns are not only delivered but deliver results.
This is a fast‑paced, hands‑on role where strategic thinking meets execution — and where your decisions directly influence revenue growth and campaign success.
HOW YOU’LL DO IT
You’ll develop and deliver digital‑first media plans that align client goals with NZME’s products, audiences and inventory. Working closely with Commercial, Pricing, Digital Ad Operations and Insights teams, you’ll help manage inventory, support yield optimisation and ensure campaigns are optimised for performance from briefing through to reporting.
You’ll analyse campaign data, turning performance insights into clear recommendations for optimisation and future planning, while ensuring timely, accurate reporting. As a trusted digital partner to sales, you’ll champion NZME’s digital offering, support revenue initiatives and enable teams with tools, templates and best‑practice planning support.
Staying close to market trends, competitor activity and evolving audience behaviour, you’ll help identify new digital opportunities and contribute to go‑to‑market initiatives that drive sustainable digital revenue growth.
ABOUT YOU
You’re commercially minded, audience‑first and detail‑driven, with a genuine passion for digital media. You enjoy working where strategy, data and delivery intersect, and you take pride in building campaigns that are well planned, optimised and continuously improving.
You bring 3+ years’ experience in media planning (digital or multi‑channel), with a strong understanding of digital advertising, inventory management and campaign optimisation. Confident using data and analytics, you can translate insight into clear, compelling recommendations and communicate effectively with a wide range of stakeholders.
Proactive, collaborative and solutions‑focused, you’re comfortable presenting ideas, supporting sales conversations and working at pace in a dynamic commercial environment.
