Want to be a part of our team covering the 2019 Rugby World Cup - and get paid for it? NZME has a unique hands-on opportunity for someone looking to gain experience in the sports news industry and work alongside some of the best in the business. If you know your line breaks from your tight fives, are passionate about the game and prepared to roll up your sleeves, we want you to join our Auckland-based newsroom during this busy and exciting period.

 

Job Duties to include but not limited to:

  • Assist in creating, editing and publishing website content for NZ Herald & Radio Sport
  • Monitor site traffic and analytics for NZ Herald & Radio Sport 
  • Live-blogging and assist in covering the RWC games from NZME's state-of-the-art Auckland HQ.

 The ideal candidate will:

  • Live and breathe rugby!
  • Have excellent communication and writing skills.
  • Previous experience of covering live events.
  • Previous experience writing for a school paper, magazine, online publication, etc.
  • Interest in the digital communications industry and some experience in Content Management Systems.
  • Ability to handle multiple priorities and simultaneous projects.
  • Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment.

This is a paid internship and will allow the individual to gain valuable experience with a professional organisation for their future in the sports, entertainment and marketing industry. Training will be provided. Late shifts to cover the time difference will be required. 

This is a temporary position for 8-10 weeks maximum.
