Sales & Content Manager - Whanganui

THE ROLE:

As the Sales & Content Manager, your role will be to lead NZME’s editorial and sales operations in the Whanganui market. You’ll cultivate and direct a winning editorial team in creating high quality journalism as well as leading the sales team to successfully deliver revenue targets.

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Ensure premium content is thoroughly planned and well-executed and that breaking news is well-managed 
  • Ensure digital presence is timely, authoritative and engaging
  • Implement NZME’s sales strategy and oversee its effective delivery in market – mentoring, empowering and motivating the sales team to build great customer relationships and achieve targets.
  • Lead the team to provide creative, audience driven, multi-platform advertising campaigns 
  • Identify and develop new revenue generating ideas and new ways to deliver journalism across platforms.
  • Whether personally or by delegation, ensure that all operations of your team are carried out efficiently – e.g. planning, diarising, rostering, following agreed workflows and meeting deadlines & revenue targets.
  • Control budgets and manage admin as instructed (e.g. contributors, leave balances, C&P processes).
  • Handle complaints, legal matters and other such issues promptly and correctly.

CORE SKILLS REQUIRED:

  • Extensive editorial leadership and sales management experience in major media organisations
  • You’ll be comfortable in print / digital / broadcasting environments 
  • Strong track record in people-management
  • Full budgetary management experience 
  • Experience in solution-based selling with multiple stakeholders.
  • Effective communicator and to keep necessary stakeholders updated on all necessary information 
  • Highly developed collaborative and influencing skills and will relate confidently and appropriately with people inside and outside the organisation
