Newstalk ZB is looking for a producer for Canterbury Mornings with Chris Lynch. This is an opportunity to be part of the team that is proud to put together Canterbury’s only morning talk radio show. The job is more than just arranging interviews; it is setting and reacting to the day’s news agenda and producing some of the most challenging talkback in the region.
You will have the ability to move stories on, thanks to a great understanding of local and international news. Your challenge will be to reflect the day’s news in a way that engages our audience. We expect interviews that will make people late for appointments, because they can’t stop listening.
Working with Chris Lynch requires flexibility, fresh ideas and the ability to adapt to sometimes rapidly changing scenarios. You’ll also need to be happy to take direction but be able to back your own decisions.
In return, we will offer you a challenging yet supportive environment. You will be given regular feedback, and the opportunity to learn. This role would also give you the skills to see news from a broader perspective and have input into how a whole show comes together.
Production experience isn’t necessary, but a good attitude is. You will need a background in journalism, and preferably broadcasting experience.
Applications close Monday 25th January 2021.
Applicants for this position must have NZ residency or a valid NZ work permit.
