Newstalk ZB is looking for a set-up producer for Heather du Plessis-Allan Drive and Early Edition with Kate Hawkesby. This is an opportunity to be part of the elite production team at New Zealand’s number one talk radio station. The job is more than just arranging interviews; it is helping to set the day’s news agenda, while finding new, subsequent angles to develop stories.
You will have a great understanding of local and international news, a way with people and a great contact list. Your challenge will be to present the day’s news in a way that engages our audience. We expect interviews that will make people late, because they can’t stop listening. Working for Drive and Early Edition requires flexibility, and the ability to adapt to sometimes rapidly changing scenarios. You’ll also need to be happy to take direction but be able to back your own decisions.
In return we will offer you a challenging, fun and supportive environment. You will be given regular feedback, and the opportunity to learn from some of the best journalists, producers and broadcasters in the country. This role would also give you the skills to see news from a broader perspective, and have input into how to pull together a top-rating radio programme.
Production experience isn’t necessary, but a good attitude is. You will need a background in journalism, and preferably broadcasting experience.
Applications close: Friday 15th January. We will be reviewing applications following this date, so you can expect to hear from us then.
Applicants for this position must have NZ residency or a valid NZ work permit.
